Best to do 'Apres' the slopes...
Q:) DO I HAVE TO JOIN UP TO VIEW THE SKI / SNOWBOARD TIPS AND MY VIDEOS?
A:) Yes you do. This is the only way we can be 100% sure the material is only being viewed by bonafide persons. Besides the tips cost a lot of money and time to make therefore we want to make sure that only 'serious' people watch them. We promise not to spam you and will keep all your personal data safe on a secure server.
Q:) CAN I BOOK MY ENTIRE HOLIDAY WITH YOU INCLUDING FLIGHTS / TRAVEL?
A:) We believe that by allowing you to book your own flights / travel you will save money and time. There are over 18 different airports servicing Geneva from the UK allowing you many options. Licenses to sell travel are VERY expensive in the UK which we would have to pass onto you. Therefore, we figure save the cost to us, pass on the saving to you!
Q:) I WISH TO BOOK LESSONS WITH YOU, HOW DO I DO THAT?
A:) Contact us for details of pricing and for further help if you wish to book lessons / more lessons. This is best done in advance to ensure availability to suit everyone. If you are staying with Fresh Chalets you will receive a 10% discount on lesson bookings.
Q:) WHAT FINANCIAL GUARANTEES CAN YOU GIVE ME?
A:) As well as being a Limited Company we only ask for a small deposit therefore your money is safe until you pay the balance at which point everything is firmed up. You will receive personalised communications to show our commitment to keeping you in the know! Personal references and details of our business bank account can be supplied upon request. Likewise we are happy to disclose our professional body membership details as a further way of you cross referencing us if you feel you would like to. However please read the umpteen pieces of feedback about us on our 'Feedback' page for even more confidence. On our 'Contact' page you will find our personal mobile telephone numbers if you wish to call us 24 / 7!
We are often asked why we don’t have ABTA and ATOL bonding. We don’t sell travel, we are not a Tour Operator, we only rent accommodation and we don’t qualify for either bonding. If we sold flights we would have to be, but we don’t.
Q:) HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO GET FROM THE AIRPORT TO VAL D'ISERE?
A:) In normal circumstances and allowing for a brief 15 minute refuel / toilet stop en-route it should take about 3 hours. Stops for supplies in the local town TO SAVE YOU money as well as traffic during peak times / peak season can add on time. We cannot be held responsible for such delays although have factored in buffers for slight mishaps on the way.
Q:) WHAT IS THERE TO DO FOR NON SKIERS IN VAL D'ISERE?
A:) Unlike other resorts around the Alps / World, Val d'Isere is a functioning, lively resort on and off the slopes all year round. The free bus route will transport you to the pedestrianised shopping village with wide variety of shops. After the World Championships in 2009 Val d'Isere is lucky enough to have a state of the art leisure facility comprosing swimming pool, gym, squash courts, climbing wall and sports hall. There are tours of the village by the representatives from the tourist office. An outdoor ice rink, walking tracks and pedestrian passes for the lifts are less energetic pastimes on offer. A cinema (showing films in English (look out for VOST)), sky tv in our chalet apartment, trips to the award winning bakery (Chevalot) can all complement a relaxing day on or off the slopes.
Q:) WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO VISIT / WHAT IS THE SKIING LIKE?
A:) The great thing about Val d'Isere, the greater Espace Killy and the Alps in general is the quality and reliability of snow. The owners of Fresh Chalets have skied and worked in virtually every single skiable country around the world from Austria to Australia and from Japan to Canada and you can be assured that anytime is a good time. The season starts in late November although there is plenty of sliding on the glacier in Tignes to be had virtually year round. The arrival of the World Cup circus for the men and ladies downhill in mid December signifies the amount and quality of snow we usually have by then. Christmas and New Year are hectic (although the Espace Killy is VERY well known for an excellent lift system so it never feels that busy). January can be cold but the slopes empty. February is very reliable for snow fall although can be busy over half term for French and subsequently British kids. By March spring is in the air and the days are long. April and even May, when most are packing up their equipment, is a buzz time since we are snow sure and high you can have powder day after powder day after powder day well into May. The lifts reluctantly close in early May after the delightful Easter period with sunny days and great snow. In short, and this is truly not being said just for the sake of it, you can visit Val d'Isere and the Espace Killy ANYTIME from early December to early May (5 whole months) and be assured of a great time.
Q:) i DO NOT WISH TO MAKE USE OF YOUR TRANSFER?
A:) Thats fine! Just let us know. Remember we provide a choice of FREE PRIVATE Transfer to and from Geneva (GVA) Airport to Val d'Isere (to arrive and depart in a generous 3 hours (ish) window at either arrival or departure time and subject to terms and conditions as found in our booking conditions.) Or you can take us up on our free pick up / drop off service from Bourg St Maurice should you come in by train; this is a flexible service so please communicate with us before booking. Should you self drive or not require the transfers we cannot offer a discount / refund for two reasons, 1) we are not a taxi service therefore cannot allocate a financial 'price-tag' to the transfer (under French law) and 2) we are more likely than not going to be going to and from the airport anyway (dropping off / picking others up) therefore there is still the same cost of fuel / tolls etc to be born by the company even through no passengers are onboard.
