Shopping is a popular pastime in Val d'Isere. From the obvious ski and snowboard equipment shops to one off boutiques and even video hire, plus of course course a selection of supermarets, Val d'Isere has it all. The high street is only a 2 minute walk away from our Chalet.Supermarkets: Although not cheap (self-drivers could stock up down the valley in Bourg St Maurice) Val d'Isere has 3 supermarkets. Spar and Casino are a short walk away from the chalet and stock everything from fresh fish to suncream!Sports shops: The high street (not surprisingly) is littered with them. No matter what you are looking for they will have it. Our favourities include Billabong, Peak Performance and of course Killy Sport. The Mountain Pro shop is excellent for everything off-piste and will even hire out transcievers and other equipment.Pharmacies: There are several within a short walk of the chalet. They are large and have an extensive product list.Sundary shops + services: The newsagent on the high street sells english papers, magazines as well as stamps and typical newsagent produce. There is also a hardware shop, video hire shop, France Post Post Office, toy shop, Internet cafes and of course the extensive and english speaking Tourist Office (with their very own Radio Val d'Isere (bilingual).Gifts and luxuries: Designer clothes shops such as Prada can be found in the pedestrianised area of town. Jewellery shops, lingerie retailers and florists are all here too.Bakeries and Boulangeries: Chevalot bakery on the high street is a national French award winning bakery. You have to stop off here for a REAL hot chocolate and croissant! They also have an outlet at the bottom of the slopes - ideal for lunch.
Val d'Isere is famed almost as much for its apres ski as it is for its amazing terrain. Apres Ski: A drink or two at the infamous Folie Douce kicks off any session. You'll feel the vibe and hear the music long before you arrive at the top of the La Daille gondola for this on snow daily party! Next head to somewhere like Cafe Face in town for more great drinks, the Blue Note for a quiet one or the Pacific to catch up on the latest Sky Sports! Fancy a cocktail then Victors, the scandinavian local is great... For a romantic drink the bar in the Blizzard hotel is great.Dining and Restaurtants: One of our favourites is Le Lodge for awesome steaks. The dessert platter at the Taverne de Alsace is AMAZING. With kids you'll not go badly wrong at Chez Nano's for pizza or the Billabong Cafe. Le Bistrot Des Cimes is family run and great for French cuisine romantic dining. There are places best avoided which we can let you know about too! Good quality takeaways include our favourites, @ Table and 4 Seasons.Nightlife: if you've still got energy then head to Dicks Tea Bar or the Moris Pub when a live band is playing!
For those with yet more energy, a 'wild' side, or for little ones and/ or non-skiers there are plenty of options.Cross-country skiing / walking: Grab some gear and off you go. They are several walking / skiing circuits available.Swimming and Oxygene leisure centre: BRAND new state of the art facility. Pool, sauna, squash, climbing wall and gym!
